Yesterday 24th, November 2018,it was pomp and pageantry, as the people of BAGIDO in Isanlu,the immediate community of Hon. Asiwaju Idris Asiru celebrated their day. It was a celebration of togetherness, love and peaceful coexistence of her aboriginal. The day also serves as a stable to discuss developmental issues as it concern the community.
As the euphoria of the celebration last, an empowerment program was organized through the state Ministry of Finance and economic development overseen by Mukadam Asiwaju Idris Asiru, which is called BELLO MARKET WOMEN(BMW) otherwise tagged B-MONI. The core intent of the program is to give a helping hand to market women by adding value to their micro trades.
The Hon commissioner of Finance ,who was ably represented at the empowerment scheme by the Coordinator, Hon. Ayopemi Ayowande, said today’s program serves as a pilot scheme here in Yagba east in Kogi west, same will happen in Okene in Kogi Central and Olamaboro in Eastern part of the state soonest. At the event 200 women were given N5,000 each to either start up a petty trade or upscale their existing business. Its a direct succour from a caring heart government of Alh Yahaya Adoza Bello to ease the financial burden,reduce dependency and alleviate the poverty level within our women cycle.
The Coordinator of the scheme said the Bello Market Women(BMW) initiative is a kind of replication or domestication of the federal government “Trade moni” scheme. He said the loan would be totally interest free ,but a consistent return of capital within a three(3) month interval would qualify such beneficiaries for the next tranche of fund. He further explained, that at the return of the given N5,000 within 3months qualifies such person for N10,000 until it attain a N50,000 tranche which has a 1 year repayment timeline.
The scheme which is overseen by the ministry of Finance and economic development, but directly attached to the Governors office. Emphasising on the scheme,he reiterated that its aimed at creating a thriving economy for the local petty traders via financial inclusion and favourable government policy.
Governor Yahaya Bello had accentuated on the fact that the New direction government would care for ALL kogites, regardless of their religion,tribe, creed ,status and even political inclination. Its a government focused on uplifting the people and uniting the state.
Further more,he stated that at full operations of the empowerment scheme, about 200,000 women would have gain entry into the safety net of trade improvement and poverty reduction.
One of the beneficiary, Madam Ranti Abiona, testify to the authenticity and receipt of the loan, saying it would go a long way to help her small trade. She was full of praises to the GYB led administration.
Diverse beneficiary of the non-interest loan from different part of the local government were overwhelmed with joy for the good gesture, expressed their delightful commendation on the New direction government led by Governor Yahaya Bello for the lofty programme.
