In what appears like a political tour, the Kogi State All Progressives Congress Senatorial candidates paid a visit to Ajaokuta Steel company today. Senator Smart Adeyemi, Alhaji Yakubu Oseni and Alhaji Isah Jubril Echocho from Kogi West, Kogi Central and Kogi East respectively were pictured with the Sole administrator of the steel company, Engr. Sumaila Akaaba in what appeared like a tour of the giant steel plant.
In their company was Joseph Asuku Bello, the APC House of Representatives candidate for Adavi/Okehi federal constituency among other aides of Governor Yahaya Bello.
Even as the detail of the visit is still sketchy, a news post on social media by a facebook user indicated that it was aimed at assessing the technical status of the idle steel plant while the trio promised to revitalize the company by giving it a first class attention if voted into the Senate in the forthcoming elections.
While some are already applauding the visit as a positive indicator, others have dismissed it as a mere political propaganda aimed at winning public support for their elections.
However, the visit may not be unconnected with the consistent call by Nigerian youths for the revitalization of Africa’s largest steel plant as promised by President Muhammadu Buhari during his election campaigns in 2015.
