The Igala Socio-cultural group; Igala Cultural Development Association (ICDA) and The Emerging Leaders forum (ELF) have lauded Governor Yahaya Bello over his development impact on Kogi East senatorial district.
They also jointly condemned peddlers of falsehood and their sponsors who recently circulated derogatory materials credited to the State governor.
This was made known on Tuesday when the group paid a courtesy visit on the State Governor at the Banquet hall of the Government House, Lokoja.
The chairman of ICDA Alhaji Ahmodu Abubakar Sadiq thanked the Governor for hosting them, stating that such gesture was a very high level of accountability any government could give its people.
He pointed out that when the social media messages were being circulated, he investigated the validity of such claim and affirmed that they were mere falsehood peddled by politicians who have deceived and divided them in the past.
The chairman asserted that Governor Bello within his capacity as the Governor of Kogi State and a known crusader of equity, fairness and equality could not have made such statement about the Igala people.
He however promised to take the truth back to the people and clarify to them that such allegations were concocted lies by evil doers.
Alhaji Sadiq similarly noted that the administration of Governor Yahaya Bello has impacted positively on the people of Kogi East in all ramifications.
He attested that the region had not witnessed such developments under past administration like it was under the Governor’s New Direction Government.
The chairman affirmed that the Governor’s contribution to ensuring that the Igala Unity House project in Anyingba was actualized was a clear indication of his love for the Igala People.
He made mention of projects like the Ankpa Township roads, Okpo-ibana-ogugu-ette road and other infrastructural projects recorded in the region as commendable feet of the Bello led administration.
The Association chairman promised that the people would repay such kind gesture of Governor Bello when the time comes.
He noted that although ICDA as the premiere Association of the Igala people was not a political organization, the people have been informed not to allow selfish politicians to deceive them.
The chairman emphasized that the days of party politics were over and only individuals with good characters and positive antecedents would lead its people.
In his own remark, coordinator of Emerging Leader’s Forum Dr. Usman Ogbo acknowledged the timeliness of such meeting, stressing that such false information could have done damage to the existing peaceful coexistence in the State.
He said the governor had broken down the barriers of ethnicity and has ensured fairness and equality for all.
Dr. Ogbo explained that this government had brought about a change of narrative to the lives of youth, stating that governance was not just about clinging to leadership positions but laying strong legacies for generations.
