In an effort to ensure flow of information, efficient service delivery and synergy between the Administrative Team and the organized Labour in Adavi LGA, the Council Administrator held a meeting with the Executive members of Nigeria Union of LG Employees (NULGE), Medical & Health Workers Union of Nigeria (MHWUN), Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) and Non Academic Staff Union (NASU) on the 4th of July, 2019 where the NULGE Chairman in Adavi LG Chapter, described Hon. Joseph Omuya Salami as a Leader with “Human Face and Human Feeling”.
In attendance at the crucial meeting were the Council Administrative Team such as; Director of Local Government (DLG), Engr. Mohammed Obaro, Local Government Treasurer (LGT), Hon. Segun Ariba, the SA, Political, Hon. Yusuf Nasiru, all the Honourable Supervisors. Also present, were all the various representatives of Organized Labour like Muhammed Yakub Isah, Adavi Nulge Chairman, Comr Salami Hassan, Adavi MHWUN Chairman, Comr. Yakubu Muhammed, Adavi NASU Chairman, Comr. Audu Ozovehe, Adavi NUT Chairman amongst others.
The Council boss, Hon. Joseph Omuya Salami took his precious time to give a holistic background on issues surrounding National Financial Intelligent Unit (NFIU) policy, Autonomy, Bailout and among other issues.
In the separate and unanimous remarks of Organized Labour Representatives, they harps on the synergy of the Leaders, Staff & the Unions, the need to bring welfare of workers as priority in terms of their emoluments, thanked the Administrator for providing them first hand information on how NFIU policy will be implemented, also appreciates him for meetings of this kind with them on routine basis which afford them the opportunity to have access to first-hand information they always furnish their appropriate members with.
The Council Boss thanked the Union representatives for their time and patience. He further responded to some of the cogent issues raised by them accordingly. and urged the Union Officials to advice their members to desist from peddling baseless and unsterilized information that is culpable of misleading members of the public especially on the NFIU policy introduced.
Speaking further, Hon Joseph threw more light on the operations of some accounts and their deductions from the allocation accrued to the Local Government.
Adding that, during Alh. Ibrahim Idris regime, he was able to pay full salary for some months at the LG level because; allocation given to the LG was reasonable then, LG also benefitted from SURE-P.
Further speaking, the Council Boss pledged his continuous efforts to be in line with Government of his Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza who is so committed to improving the welfare of the civil servants at all level in the state. ”
He added that, the bailout fund is never as free as some people misinterpreted it. “It’s a loan embedded on the LG allocation in which the banks are deducting monthly, he said.
In closing remarks, the NULGE Chairman, Comrade Muhammed Yakubu Isah commended the Administrator for promptly attending to the representatives of the LG Staff. He further pledged their total support and commitment towards his administration.
He said he knows the Administrator too well as a man of his words and truthfulness. He pleaded to the Administrator to always continue operating an open-minded policy with the staff especially the staff unions. “By virtue of your position today, you are a father and a leader to all the LG civil servants and Adavi as a whole;” he added.
He also thanked the administrator for meetings frequency with the Unions that have relieved them worry of what to tell Staff of the Local Government. those that have the wrong notion through Social Media about the NFIU can now be better informed.
Speaking earlier, the Secretary to Health Unionist, Comrade Dahiru Animoku thanked the Administrator for the information given to them in which he has no doubt about all he has said because he has never given them any false information. Added that, the present Administration under the leadership of his Excellency, Alh. Yahaya Adoza Bello has a positive change results and the change is surely resurfacing in Adavi LG under the leadership of Hon. Joseph Omuya Salami. ” we will always support you, don’t hesitate to call on us whenever you need our assistance”. We shall stand firm and work for the progress of your Administration and the LG Staff as well”, he added.
